Smelker nets fifth goal of season for Boston Pride

Anchorage’s Jordan Smelker scored her fifth goal of the season for the Boston Pride of the National Women’s Hockey League.

It came in the third period in an 8-1 win over the New York Riverters. It was the second time she has found the back of the net against New York.

Smelker, of Service High fame, is tied for third on her team with nine points in 11 games.

Boston has an 8-3 record and sits in second place in the inaugural season of the NWHL.

The forward is coming off a championship season in the spring when she won a Clarkson Cup with the Boston Blades of the CWHL.

She amassed 8-7-15 totals in 22 games.

Two years ago, as a senior in college, she was named MVP of the RPI Engineers and was a finalist for the ECAC Hockey Best Defensive Forward Award.
