Kelsey Griffin of Eagle River is in the mix for a spot on the Australian Olympic women’s basketball team.
The 28-year-old all-star is one of the best players in the country’s top women’s league and recently became a naturalized citizen.
Griffin, of Chugiak High fame, was among 27 players invited to the first phase of training camp beginning next month.
The 6-foot-2 forward is a two-time Grand Final MVP and two-time WNBL champion.
This season with the Bendigo Spirit she ranks fourth in the WNBL with a 17.9-point scoring average and third with a 10-rebound average.
Griffin is also a veteran of the WNBA, an NCAA All-American at the University of Nebraska and the only college player from Alaska to score 2,000 career points at the D1 level.
