February 12, 2016

Connor Looney BasketballPalmer’s Connor Looney scored 17 of his career-high 30 points in the first half as Hawaii Pacific beat Chaminade 90-85 in Honolulu.

The 6-foot-2 junior guard sank 8-of-12 field goals, including 5-of-7 from deep, as well as 9-of-10 free throws.

Looney, of Palmer High fame, sank four free throws inside the final 15 seconds to secure the Pac West win.

He also had 4 rebounds and 2 steals in 28 minutes.

Looney’s previous season high was 22 points and he’s averaging 10.5 on the season, so it’s not like this 30-point performance came of nowhere.

However, he was held scoreless in seven minutes of action just two weeks ago.

This was Looney’s 13th double-figure scoring outing in 23 games this season for the NCAA D2 Sharks, who are 16-7 overall and 11-5 in league.
