Two weeks after breaking the Mountain West Conference record in the 5,000 meters, Kenai’s Allie Ostrander did it again in the 3,000.

The fabulous freshman at Boise State University accomplished both feats on the Dempsey Indoor track in Seattle, Washington.

Ostrander clocked a winning time of 8:54.27 in the 3,000 at the Husky Classic to give her another Mountain West record. Her time was the 10th fastest in indoor collegiate history.

A fortnight earlier at the same track, Ostrander’s 5,000 winning time of 15:21.85 at the UW Invitational was the third-fastest on an oversize track in collegiate indoor history.

How money is this kid?

She has the fastest 3,000 and 5,000 times this season and is a virtual lock to earn a spot in both events for the NCAA indoor national championships.

Ostrander, of Kenai High fame, was an All-American in cross country after she finished second at the D1 national championships.

Away from running, she is a 4.0 student as a kinesiology major and was named to the Academic All-Mountain West Team.
