Blackburn exceeds Olympic qualifying standard in discus

Paige Blackburn Track and FieldSoldotna’s Paige Blackburn exceeded the Olympic qualifying standard in the discus with the farthest throw of the day in Los Angeles, California.

She competed at the Power Conference Cardinal & Gold Challenge hosted by the University of Southern California.

Blackburn, of Soldotna High fame, threw the discus 200 feet, 8 inches – or 61.16 meters. The Olympic standard is 61 meters.

She used to compete for the Air Force Academy and participated unattached today.
