Nome’s Shayla Johnson and Togiak’s Drew Carlos combined for nearly half of Wenatchee Valley’s point total in a 74-60 win over Lower Columbia in the women’s third-place game of the NWAC basketball tournament in Everett, Washington.

Both players were named all-tournament second team.

Johnson, of Wasilla High fame, came off the bench to drop in a team-high 19 points, thanks to three 3-pointers and 6-of-8 shooting from the foul line.

She averaged 10.1 points in 30 games, which is a little misleading because she showed the ability to take over games with her scoring.

Her season high was 24 and she cracked the 15-point mark seven times, including two of three NWAC tournament games.

The 5-foot-7 sophomore was also selected to the All-Defensive Team for the East Region champs in the regular season.

Wenatchee Valley also features Adriane Horn of Kodiak and Anna Ingraham of Chugiak.

Carlos and Horn were NWAC Academic Excellence Award winners.
