His first college playoff game didn’t go as expected for Desmond Johnson of Anchorage.

It actually went better than he dreamed.

The freshman guard recorded a rare quadruple-double for South Mountain Community College in a 91-86 win over Pima in the Arizona CC league playoffs.

The 5-foot-10 playmaker collected 13 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals.

“When I found out what I did I was in shock,” Johnson told me. “I was thinking to myself, ‘Damn, I can’t believe I did this. Thank God for blessing me.’”

Johnson, of East High fame, has flashed the kind of all-court game it takes to produce a quadruple-double. His season highs were 23 points, 10 rebounds, 15 assists and 4 steals.

Tonight it put it all together.

“It came in a big-time win, but it wasn’t all me,” Johnson said. “It was my teammates, coaches and the fans. The fans were loud and never stopped cheering us on. Shout out to them.”
