One of Alaska’s greatest swimmers is making her third and final appearance at the NCAA Championships.

Anchorage’s Samantha Wicks looks to continue the most successful season of her Boise State University career when she travels to Atlanta, Georgia, for the national championships March 16-19.

Wicks, of East High fame, qualified for three individual events and pair of relays, so five in all.

She was named Mountain West Swimmer of the Year and the recipient of the Mountain West Swimming and Diving Senior Award.

Wicks is nicknamed ‘The Tank,’ which has stuck since her junior swimming days.

She is a national qualifier in the 200 IM (1:57.18, 30th among qualifiers), 100 back (52.03, 21st) and 200 back (1:54.24, 36th).

She is part of Boise State’s 200 and 400 free relay teams that qualified automatically for the national meets with their respective A cuts from the Mountain West Championships two weeks ago.

The 200 relay posted the 13th-fastest qualifying time at 1:28.93. The 400 relay team qualified 14th at 3:15.38.
