Alaska’s college softball ‘Slam Sisters’ each homer in LaTech win
Just call them the Alaska Slam Sisters.
Pauline Tufi and Taria Page of Anchorage each hit home runs for the Louisiana Tech softball team in a 12-0 win over Alcorn State.
This was the first time that two Alaskans went yard in the same NCAA D1 softball game.Tufi, of West High fame, launched a two-run shot in the first inning on the seventh pitch of the at-bat.
It was her sixth home run of the season and the 22nd in three years at Louisiana Tech.
The home run pushed Tufi over the 100 career RBI mark, giving her 101 in 124 games.
She broke school records in each of the last two seasons – one for freshman RBIs [34] and another for single-season saves [6].
Tufi is batting .356 and ranks second on the team with 22 RBIs in 22 games this year.
Page, of East High fame, crushed her first college home run in the fourth inning. It was a two-run shot on a 1-0 pitch.Just a freshman, she is hitting .286 and is fourth on Louisiana Tech with 17 RBIs in 26 games.
She reached base all three times against Alcorn State, with a homer and two walks.
