Kelter scores for Team USA, makes rugby history at Olympics

Alev Kelter of Eagle River made Olympic history on Saturday.
With rugby back at the Olympics for the first time since 1924, Kelter became the first American to convert a scoring try at the Summer Games in 92 years.
It’s also the first time women’s rugby has been played at the Olympics.
Kelter, of Chugiak High fame, supplied five points for Team USA in a 14-7 upset loss to Fiji in the opening game in Rio, Brazil.
Later in the day, she accumliated 14 points in a 48-0 victory over Columbia.
Through Day 1 of the Olympics, Kelter leads Team USA with 19 points.
