Cash McGregor of Wasilla returned to the field for the Macalester College football team for the first time in almost a year.

The 6-foot-1 defensive back made seven tackles, including three solo, and broke up two passes as Macalester opened the season with a 30-23 win over Carleton during NCAA D3 action in St. Paul, Minnesota.

McGregor, of Wasilla High fame, started the first two games last year before an injury ended his season.

As a freshman in 2014 he played in all 11 games and ranked eighth on the team with 33 tackles and fifth with five pass breakups.

McGregor also competes for the Macalester track and field team and is a member of the fishing club.
