Kayle Blackmore of Anchorage turned in a sixth-place finish for the Southern Oregon University cross country team at the William Jessup Warrior Invitational in Rocklin, California.
The sophomore ran a 5K time of 18:07 and outkicked a Oregon Tech runner at the finish.
Blackmore, of West High fame, is an All-American with the track team.
Her previous best finish in cross country was 10th place, set twice, most recently earlier this month at the Lewis & Clark Invitational. She was 54th in the same race a year ago.
Last year, she was SOU’s third finisher at the NAIA Championships and 90th place overall as the Raiders placed 14th as a team in Charlotte, N.C.
