Anchorage’s Amu Aukusitino found himself in the right place at the right time most of time for the Chabot College football team.

The sophomore defensive back had 75 tackles, a sack and four interceptions in 10 games.

“The coaches put us in position to make a play,” Aukusitino told me. “So it’s all up to you when it comes to game time.”

The 21-year-old Alaskan was definitely game ready.

Aukusitino, of Service High fame, had 15 tackles and an interception against San Francisco.

Against Butte he had nine tackles, a sack and an interception.

In the game against Fresno he had a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Aukusitino also had five pass breakups and five tackles for a loss.

He will leave Chabot College with two years of eligibility and hopes to land with another school soon.

“I plan on playing for as long as I can,” Aukusitino said.
