Colorado School of Mines goalkeeper Sam Zumbro of Anchorage came up big when the team needed her most.

With the all-conference senior standout facing the potential of playing her final college game, she didn’t allow a goal in regulation and overtime before making several key saves in the shootout as the sixth-ranked Orediggers beat Dallas Baptist on penalty kicks.

The win came in the second round of the NCAA D2 Championships in Golden, Colorado.

Zumbro, of Service High fame, made two saves in the deciding shootout after a clean sheet through 90 minutes of regulation and a 20-minute overtime.

It was the ninth shutout of the season for the Alaskan; the 16th of her career.

Mines, the top seed in the South Central region, will host the winner between Midwestern State and Texas A&M Commerce in the third round.
