With 11 players averaging double figures in minutes for the Walla Walla University men’s basketball team, shots might be hard to come by for some guys.

But not Alec Calloway of Juneau.

The 6-foot-5 junior has maximized his playing time for the NAIA Wolves and risen above the crowd to lead the team with a 15.7-point scoring average in just 22.8 minutes per game.

Calloway, of Juneau-Douglas High fame, ranks first on the team with a .542 field-goal percentage on 64-of-118 shooting, and he’s attempted way more shots than any of his teammates.

He’s also second on the team with 6.1 rebounds.

Calloway has reached double figures in nine of 10 games, highlighted by his season-high 23 points against New Hope Christian.

He’s buried a 3-pointer in eight of 10 games and is shooting 43 percent on the season.

This is his first season at Walla Walla after two seasons at Edmonds Community College.
