Holy Cross College forward Travon Brackett of Anchorage had his midrange game on point for the Saints.

The 6-foot-4 junior netted 20 points on an efficient 9-of-12 shooting from the floor, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a 90-86 loss to Olivet Nazarene in NAIA hoops play in Holy Cross, Indiana.

Brackett, of West Valley High fame, averages 8.1 points per game but has the knack for stepping up with big scoring games of 22, 20 and 18 points.

At one point in the first half he knocked down four jumpers on four consecutive possessions; in other words, he hit his season average in 2 minutes, 35 seconds.

He finished the first half 6-of-7 for 12 points.

In the second half, Bracket kept it going and his two free throws gave Holy Cross a 78-77 lead with 2:45 to play.

His last bucket was a jumper to draw the Saints within 87-86 with 18 seconds left.

Brackett ranks third on the team with a .507 shooting percentage in 22 games.
