Klie playing like conference MVP for 15th-ranked San Diego

Anchorage’s Adam Klie isn’t just the best basketball player at NCAA D2 nationally ranked San Diego.

He might be the MVP of the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

The 6-foot-4 guard is definitely a player-of-the-year candidate as he’s the best player on the best team in the conference.

Klie, of Service High fame, is averaging career highs across the board and ranks ninth in the league in scoring [14.1], 11th in rebounding [6.9] and second in assists [4.7].

He’s also seventh in minutes [32.7] and ninth in field-goal percentage [.456].

Klie recorded his first double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds in a 52-47 win over Cal State East Bay that lifted San Diego to 13-2 overall and 8-0 in the CCAA.

He’s ironed out his free-throw stroke over the last four games, shooting a .697 percentage [23-of-33] to raise his season average to .607. He was a career .659 FT shooter coming into the year.
