Merrimack College hockey player Madison Morey of Fairbanks picked a terrific time to find her scoring touch.

After the durable sophomore forward bagged her first two goals of the season in back-to-back games, including an OT winner, she was named women’s athlete of the week for her school in North Andover, Massachusetts.

Morey, of Lathrop High fame, scored her first goal in dramatic fashion in Merrimack’s first game of 2017, scoring the first game-winning goal of her career in overtime in a 2-1 victory over Vermont in NCAA D1 play.

The goal kept Merrimack’s all-time undefeated record intact against Vermont.

She scored her second goal the following day against Connecticut to improve her stat line on the season to 2-4—6 in 24 games.

Morey has played in all 58 games of her Merrimack career. She now has five career Gs.
