Griffin named Bendigo Spirit MVP for third straight season

When it comes to ranking the best players in Bendigo Spirit women’s basketball history, Eagle River’s Kelsey Griffin will go down as one of the all-time greats.

The fifth-year forward won her third consecutive team most valuable player award for the WNBL team in Australia.

The 6-foot-2 captain had her typical solid season by averaging 15.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 24 games.

Griffin, of Chugiak High fame, led the Spirit with 35 steals and 27 blocked shots.

The 29-year-old led Bendigo to WNBL championships in 2013 and 2014.
