Evingson, Hausinger each score goals to lift UMass Lowell

After losing its first three games of the season, the University of Massachusetts Lowell hockey team needed a spark.

Enter Anchorage’s own 1-2 punch.

Croix Evingson hit ‘em early and Kenny Hausinger hit ‘em late as the 12th-ranked River Hawks beat Nebraska Omaha 5-2 in a conference crossover game in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Evingston was credited with the game-winning goal in the second period after scoring on an odd-man breakaway coming out of the penalty box to make it 3-0.

The 6-foot-5 defenseman made his college debut in this game. He finished with

Evingston was drafted in the seventh round by the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets over the summer.

Hausinger netted an unassisted goal in the third period, his second goal of the season.

The sophomore forward has collected points in three of four games this season.

The 5-foot-9 winger has 11 goals in 42 career games at UMass Lowell.

Last season he registered 9 goals and 9 assists for 18 points, third most among first-year players.

Four of his goals have been game winners.
