One night after being called on in relief, Jeremy Swayman of Anchorage got the start in net for the University of Maine hockey team.

The freshman goaltender made 27 saves and picked up his first career win in a 6-3 victory over Miami of Ohio during NCAA D1 action in Orono, Maine.

All three goals he surrendered came on the power play.

In fact, five of the eight goals he’s given up over three appearances have come with his team shorthanded.

In the first game of the series, Swayman was called on in the third period after the other Maine goaltender gave up six goals in two periods.
