Now in Portugal, Travante Williams of Anchorage started the season on the bench in part because the team probably didn’t know much about him.

They know now.

Oliveirense added the 6-foot-3 guard to the starting lineup and the Alaskan paid immediate dividends in a 93-78 win over FC Porto.

Williams, of Mt. Edgecumbe fame, scored 14 points, grabbed six rebounds and made four steals to earn the team’s highest individual ranking.

He sank 5-for-7 field goals, with his only two misses being 3-pointers. He made all four free throws.

Oliveirense [3-0] is one of three unbeatens in Portugal’s top division.

Williams recorded 9 points and 9 rebounds in the game before his first start.
