One of the biggest hitters in the NWAC earned one of the biggest individual honors.

Columbia Basin outside hitter Meli Matuatia of Kodiak received an all-star nod with her All-Eastern Region Second Team selection.

The 5-foot-9 spiker was one of three Columbia Basin players picked among the 10 all-stars.

Matuatia, of Kodiak High fame, finished second on the team with 249 kills, third with a .202 hitting percentage, fourth with 154 digs and fourth with 31 blocks.

She had a 13-match streak with double-figure kill totals, including a season-high 19 kills in a four-set win against Wenatchee.

Her most memorable match was the night she had 17 kills and 17 digs in a five-set win over Spokane.
