Ostrander challenges course record, finishes 2nd at regionals

Allie Ostrander
Kenai’s Allie Ostrander of Boise State and San Francisco’s Charlotte Taylor didn’t disappoint.
They pushed each other the entire way before Taylor pulled away over the final kilometer to win the NCAA West Region Championships at Jefferson Park Golf Course in Seattle, Washington.
Taylor finished with a 6K course record of 19:14.2, with Ostrander right on her heels at 19:16.5.
At last year’s NCAA outdoor national championships, Taylor won the 10,000 meters and Ostrander won the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Ostrander, of Kenai High fame, won this race as a freshman in 2015. She sat out last year with an injury.
Her next race will be the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Nov. 18 in Louisville, Kentucky.
In 2015, Ostrander finished second at the national meet and earned All-American honors.
