Merrimack defenseman Alex Carle of Anchorage set up a goal in regulation, but Maine goaltender Jeremy Swayman of Anchorage picked up the winning decision in a 4-3 OT victory in Orono, Maine.

It was the latest NCAA D1 hockey game that featured a couple Alaskans facing off on the same ice.

Carle set up the tying goal early in the second period when he earned the primary assist. It was the third time Carle fed fellow defenseman Marc Biega for a score this season.

The assist was No. 20 of Carle’s career and the third of the season.

His offensive numbers are down compared to his previous two seasons but Merrimack is 2-1-1 when the junior registers a point compared to 5-15-3 when he doesn’t.
