Williams pushes career win total to 174 for Abilene Christian

Whitney Williams of Anchorage enjoyed a perfect performance on the court as she swept both her singles and doubles matches for Abilene Christian in Texas.

The senior outscored opponents from New Mexico and Midwestern State by a combined 42-22.

Williams, of South High fame, increased her career win total to 174, which is 49 victories more than any other college tennis players from Alaska.

She breezed to a pair of 6-1 wins in doubles with partner Sarah Adams.

But she was pushed to the limit in singles.

Williams pulled out a 7-5, 7-6 win over New Mexico’s Danielle Quevedo at No. 2 and rallied for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 win over Midwestern State’s Maddy Coffman at No. 1.

Willimas has prevailed in 17 of 26 matches this spring.
