Anchorage’s Zoe Hickel set up the winning goal in triple overtime to get her expansion team into the championship game of the Canadian Women’s Hockey League.

The first-year team survived a marathon Game 3 by beating the Calgary Inferno 1-0 to advance to the Clarkson Cup finals against the Markham Thunder Sunday in Toronto.

The Red Star won the final two games of the series in overtime, with Hickel on the ice for both game winners.

The KRS team is based out of China but joined the CWHL this season and the level of play is world class with mostly Canadian national team members and Olympic players.

Hickel, of Service High fame, was the league leader in assists all season long and finished among the top rookies in points.

The former Minnesota Duluth star racked up 12-26—38 totals in 28 games. She finished tied for the lead league with 26 assists.
