The Alaska All Stars 19U and Anchorage North Stars 16U girls hockey teams each captured bronze medals at the USA Hockey Tier II national championships in Marlborough, Massachusetts.

For the Alaska All Stars, offensive stars Carly Glover and captain Maddy Millar, and goaltender Aubrielle Champagne, highlighted the team’s 4-1 showing in the tournament.

Alaska beat teams from Massachusetts, South Dakota, Wisconsin and by a 17-6 combined score to finish with a perfect record in pool play.

The All Stars fell 3-0 in the medal round to the San Jose Jr. Sharks of California.

Glover led all tournament scorers with seven goals.

Millar, a University of Wisconsin-Concordia commit, was the top playmaker with seven assists. Teammates Darci Matson [5] and Journey Miller [4] were close behind.

Glover and Matson each finished third in the tournament with eight points.

The Anchorage North Stars bounced back from back-to-back losses in pool play to beat teams from Wisconsin and Michigan to reach the medal round.

They lost 3-1 to the Shoreline Sharks of Connecticut.

Brianna Paxson led the Anchorage team and tied for seventh in the tournament with six points on three goals and three assists.

Kaylin Garner and Elle McKenna each had two goals and three points.

Last year, the Anchorage North Stars 16U became the first Alaska youth team to win a USA Hockey national championship since the Alaska All Stars 14-U Tier II girls in 2013.
