Whether it’s the first, second or third hit, Anchorage’s Emma Kleven has been pivotal in all three points of the game for Notre Dame de Namur University.

The 5-foot-7 setter’s focus is to run the offense, but she also defends the back row and has provided a new-found scoring punch for the NCAA D2 team in the PacWest Conference.

The sophomore’s all-around game was showcased in a four-set loss to Chicago State when she posted her fifth career double-double with 31 assists and 11 digs to go with a .500 attack percentage.

The 31 assists were her third-highest single-match total and the 82 assists were the second-highest four-match stretch of her young career.

Kleven, of South High fame, played in 15 of her team’s 28 matches as a freshman.

This year as the primary setter she is averaging 6.3 assists per set.

She’s also adding more dekes and dumps, amassing nine kills with only one error on 19 attempts and a career-high .421 hitting percentage.
