Ostrander finishes 5th in elite field at Nuttycombe Invitational

Allie Ostrander
Boise State University junior Allie Ostrander of Kenai turned in another excellent effort against a loaded field, finishing fifth among 227 women at the Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin.
Seven of the nation’s top-10 cross-country running teams competed in the meet that had a championship setting.
Ostrander and the Broncos were up for the challenge.
The fifth-ranked women finished second at the meet with 91 points – trailing only No. 2 Colorado’s 80.
Ostrander, of Kenai High fame, led three Boise State runners in the top 10 with a 6-K time of 19 minutes, 40.4 seconds. She was in the lead pack the entire way before Wisconsin’s Alicia Monson pulled away on her home course to win in 19:33.3.
Second place and fifth place were separated by fewer than five seconds.
Ostrander – a two-time cross country All-American and the 2015 NCAA national runner-up – came into the race ranked No. 2 by FloTrack.
