After a career of setting up others, Sims finally getting hers
Anchorage’s Kayla Sims has made a career out of setting up others for success, but this year she’s calling her own number a little more often.
The senior setter has hammered home a career-high kill total for the season while continuing to lead The Master’s University volleyball team in assists.
The All-American is also on pace to set career highs in single-season aces, digs and blocks for the NAIA team.
Sims, of South High fame, is a big reason why the Mustangs of Santa Clarita, California, are 23-4 overall this season.
She has 120 kills and a .223 hitting percentage on a career-high 350 attempts.
Her other career highs include 50 aces, 256 digs and 37 blocks.
Sims ranks No. 3 all-time with 2,600 assists and No. 5 with 157 aces.
