Fresh off helping the Washington State University women’s soccer team earn a draw against the defending NCAA champions, junior goalkeeper Rachel Thompson of Nikiski was rewarded by the conference.

She was named Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time this season.

Thompson matched a career high with nine saves in a 1-1 tie with Stanford and also anchored a 4-2 win over Cal.

She faced 31 shots in 110 minutes against Stanford, which leads the nation in shots on goal.

The win against Cal snapped a five-game losing streak.

Thompson, of Nikiski High fame, has a posted 6-4-1 record with two shutouts in 12 appearances.

The first time she had nine saves came against UCLA in a 1-0 win for her first college clean sheet.

The first time she won Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week she closed out a 3-0 win over Idaho and added an assist, the program’s first for a keeper since 2015.
