Juneau’s Jacob Calloway came alive for the Southern Utah University men’s basketball team in a 111-64 blowout win over San Diego Christian in Cedar City, Utah.

The junior sharpshooter took advantage of a rare start by dropping in a career-high 20 points in 22 minutes and taking more shots than he has in almost a full year.

This was a long time coming for the 6-foot-8 forward.

Calloway connected on 6-of-9 field goals, including 4-of-5 3-pointers, to go along with season highs of five rebounds, two assists and one steal.

This was the fourth time he’s knocked down as many as four 3s in a game; his career high is five.

His previous career high was 19 points set against St. Louis in 2016.

Calloway, of Thunder Mountain High fame, has made 18 starts in 66 career games for the Big Sky squad.

He is averaging a career-best 9.0 points through the first five games and has reached double digits in back-to-back games for the first time since last December when he had 10 points against Long Beach and 12 against Michigan State.
