There are four Alaska men wrestling for the Air Force Academy, and one of them leads the team in victories.

Anchorage’s Marcus Amico has posted a 10-4 record, which makes him the first wrestler this season to reach double figures in wins.

Amico, of Eagle River High fame, has wrestled at both the 157-pound and 165-pound weight class. Three wins have come by pin and one by technical fall for the junior.

He has posted a 15-10 career mark with the NCAA D1 Falcons.

Away from the mat, Amico is a Scholar Athlete Award recipient and first-team All-Academic All-Big 12 selection.

The Air Force features other Alaskans in Palmer’s Hunter Bleakney, Eagle River’s Grant Barkhurst and Anchorage’s Cody Phelps.

Bleakney, of Palmer High fame, is a freshman 149-pounder with a 6-5 record.

Half of his victories have come by pin, with his fastest coming in just 71 seconds. That’s the eighth fastest on the team.

Led by Amico, the Alaska group has earned a combined 19-19 record.
