Yockey rises to occasion in first college start for Highline College
A small forward from a small Southeast Alaska town came up big for Highline College as Coffman Cove’s Nathan Yockey reached double figures in his first start in the NWAC.
The 6-foot-4 freshman scored 10 points and grabbed a season-high four rebounds as the Thunderbirds beat Skagit Valley 86-71 in Des Moines, Washington.
Yockey, of Klawock High fame, has played in all 13 games for Highline this season and he’s averaging 4.2 points per game.
He’s twice reached double figures, but this was the first time it came in a league game.
His season-high 39 minutes were more than the previous three games combined.
