Bayne goes bananas in second half to lead Whatcom comeback
Sitka’s Tevin Bayne scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half to lead Whatcom College back from a 12-point deficit in a 93-85 win over Bellevue in the NWAC.
The 6-foot-5 sophomore sank 7-of-10 field goals in the final 20 minutes and during one stretch scored eight straight points for his team. He also had seven second-half rebounds.
Bayne, of Sitka High fame, has reached double figures in all eight games since making his season debut on Dec. 14. He is averaging 14.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
His scoring and rebounding numbers are up from last season.
