Doutrive sparks first-half run that propels Arizona over Buffs
Anchorage’s Devonaire Doutrive played a vital role in a first-half run that propelled the Arizona Wildcats to a big halftime lead en route to a 64-56 win in the Pac-12 over the visiting Colorado Buffaloes.
The freshman collected six points and three rebounds during his team’s 21-8 run over a six-plus-minute stretch to help Arizona go ahead 35-21. The Cats led 39-24 at the break.
Doutrive, of West High fame, finished with season highs in minutes (12), points (8) and rebounds (4).
The 6-foot-5 guard also went to the free-throw line for the first time, sinking both attempts.
Doutrive has really picked up his game over the last four games, twice scoring eight points and grabbing six offensive rebounds to earn more playing time.
