Griffin punishes former team with 24-point, 20-rebound effort

Kelsey Griffin
Eagle River’s Kelsey Griffin switched jerseys but it didn’t change the fact that she’s still an MVP candidate in Australia’s WNBL.
The 31-year-old proved that in a big way by punishing her old team with a 24-point, 20-rebound performance as the Canberra Capitals won 101-97 in double OT over the Bendigo Spirit.
Griffin led Canberra to a 3-0 record over Bendigo, with the other two wins coming by 31 and 40 points. In all three games, Griffin put up huge numbers.
Game 1: 21-7-6
Game 2: 27-10-3
Game 3: 24-20-0
Average: 24-9-3
Griffin, of Chugiak High fame, played six seasons with Bendigo and led the Spirit to WNBL championships in 2014 and 2013.
This is her first season with the Canberra Capitals, who lead the league with a 16-5 record.
