Allie Ostrander
After a record-setting weekend on the track, Kenai’s Allie Ostrander was named Boise State University Athlete of the Week.
The junior set school records in the indoor mile and indoor distance medley relay at the UW Invitational in Seattle, Washington.
On Day 1, she anchored Boise State’s distance medley team to a runner-up finish with a fantastic finish that saw her outsprint a BYU for second place in 10:56.42 – 49-hundreths of a second behind Oklahoma State.
The time broke the previous school record of 10:58.93 set last season and is currently the second-fastest time in the country this season.
Less than 24 hours later, Ostrander became the first Boise State woman to break the 4:40 barrier in the mile after placing third in 4:35.79 – breaking the previous school record by seven seconds.
Her time currently ranks ninth in NCAA DI.
Ostrander still holds the Alaska high school state record in the 1600 meters (nine meters short of a mile) of 4:48.31 set in 2015.
