Anchorage’s Devon Bookert made a dynamite debut in the NBA G-League with the Austin Spurs in a 115-95 loss to the South Bay Lakers in Los Angeles, California.
The 26-year-old rookie scored 16 points, dished seven assists, grabbed three rebounds and blocked a shot.
Bookert, of West High fame, drained 4-of-6 3-pointers and finished 6-for-8 from the field.
The former Florida State University star was twice drafted by G-League teams in 2017 and 2018 but was released and never played.
Last season he went to Czech Republic and averaged 15.5 points with USK Praha.
Now he’s only the fourth Alaskan to play in the G-League, joining Ramon Harris and Jalil Abdul-Bassit of Anchorage and Damen Bell-Holter of Hydaburg.
Bookert is also one of just 10 Alaska men to score 1,000 points at the NCAA D1 level.
