Griffin leads Canberra to WNBL title, wins 3rd finals MVP award
Kelsey Griffin of Eagle River scored 29 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to power the Canberra Capitals to a 93-73 win over the Adelaide Lightning in Game 3 of the WNBL Grand Finals best-of-3 series in Australia.
This is her third career championship in her first season with Canberra. She previously won titles with the Bendigo Spirit in 2014 and 2013.
All three times her team won Griffin was named Grand Finals MVP, making her just the second player since 1981 to earn three awards.
Aussie legend Lauren Jackson is the only four-time finals MVP.
Griffin, of Chugiak High fame, averaged 25 points and 16.7 rebounds in the series and has recorded a double-double in each of her five career finals appearances.

Earlier in this series she had 22 points and 12 rebounds in Game 1 and 24 points and 23 rebounds in Game 2.
In 2014, she had 28 points and 15 rebounds in a 94-83 win over the Townsville Fire. In 2013, she collected 20 points and 11 rebounds in a 71-57 victory over Townsville.
The WNBL moved from a single-game championship format to a best-of-3 series in 2016.
