Barrow’s Kamaka Hepa celebrated with his first start at the University of Texas in a big way.

The 6-foot-9 freshman forward recorded his first Big 12 double-figure scoring game with a season-high 11 points in an 84-83 loss to Baylor in the Lone Star State.

He also set season highs in minutes (39) and 3-pointers (3-for-3) and matched his season high with two blocked shots and two free throws (2-for-3).

His third 3 of the night gave Texas an 81-75 lead late in overtime.

Hepa, of Barrow High fame, returned to the lineup after missing the previous three games because of concussion protocol. It was his first game since Feb. 9.

His 11 points represented more scoring than he had done in the last 10 games combined.

Hepa is averaging 2.2 points, 1.7 rebounds and 10.1 minutes per game in 20 appearances.
