Ostrander sets new 10K mark, her 7th school record at Boise St.
Kenai’s Allie Ostrander etched her name once again in the Boise State University record book, this time clocking a school record in the women’s 10,000-meter run at the Stanford Invitational in California.
Ostrander owns at least seven school records for the Broncos and is No. 2 in three other events, in addition to her 10 NCAA All-American results and two national championships.
The redshirt junior ran 32:06.71 in the 10,000 to finish third in the field of 31.
The first- and second-place runners in the race were professionals, and UAA’s Caroline Kurgat was fifth in 32:08.09.
“It was nice to get in a hard effort against a great field,” Ostrander said. “I’m looking forward to using this experience as a base for the rest of the season.”
Ostrander, of Kenai High fame, beat the previous school and Mountain West Conference record in the 10,000 by almost seven seconds. The time also moves her to 10th on the NCAA record book in the event.
