Lasher wins first playoff series in Australia with Geraldton
Anchorage’s Colter Lasher got over a postseason obstacle down under.
The second-year forward led the No. 3 Geraldton Buccaneers to a first-round playoff series victory over the No. 6 Warwick Senators in Australia’s State Basketball League.
This result made up for last year’s disappointment when Geraldton lost in the first round as the No. 1 seed.
Not this time, though.
Lasher, of Dimond High fame, delivered a 15-point, 11-rebound, 4-assist effort in a 79-68 victory in the decisive Game 3 that moved the Bucs to the second round.
The 6-foot-7 former Houston Baptist University standout led Geraldton in the series with 20.4 scoring and 6.2 rebounding averages. He had 25 points in a Game 2 loss.
Geraldton (21-8) will face No. 1 Lakeside (22-6) in the league semifinals.
