Sims pushes goal total to four, tied for 5th in GSAC in points
She was one of the best college volleyball players from Alaska, and now Kayla Sims of Anchorage is quickly becoming one of the state’s most prolific goal scorers.
The Master’s University grad student has racked up four goals and 10 points in nine games as she competes a fifth year for the NAIA Mustangs of Santa Clarita, California.
Sims, of South High fame, netted her latest goal in the 31st minute of a 7-0 win against Providence Christian
Her goal was part of a six-goal first-half barrage that was the highest scoring half for The Master’s since 2009.
The 5-foot-9 playmaker has compiled four goals, two assists and 10 points on the season. She is tied for No. 5 in scoring in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
Sims had played volleyball for The Master’s for the previous four years.
The setter was a two-time All-American who finished her career ranked No. 2 in school history in assists (2,773) and No. 5 in aces (165).
