Fahrney outsprints Gonzaga teammates at finish in Minnesota
Anchorage’s Grace Fahrney used a killer kick to outsprint two Gonzaga University teammates to the finish of the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She edged by less than a second two Bulldogs at the end of the women’s 6-K race in 22:35.9 to place 40th out of 147 NCAA D1 cross-country runners. She was 37th among runners who scored team points.
Fahrney, of Service High fame, was the third-fastest freshman in the field.
She was the No. 2 runner for Gonzaga, which was fifth in the team standings.
