Five-point series has Hausinger atop Hockey East points race

Anchorage’s Kenny Hausinger is tied for the points lead in the Hockey East conference after a five-point opening weekend.

The University of Massachusetts-Lowell senior forward racked up two goals and three assists as the River Hawks swept Alabama-Huntsville by a combined 8-2 score.

The 5-foot-9 playmaker bagged a shorthanded goal and two assists in the first game and a goal and assist in the second game.

Hausinger, of Dimond High fame, is tied for the Hockey East lead in points, assists, shorthanded goals and game-winning goals.

He currently leads all Alaska active college players with 65 points on 31 goals and 34 assists in 107 career games.
