Furlong breaks off 28-yard TD run to kickstart Dakota State win
Soldotna’s Brenner Furlong ripped off the longest run of his college football career and scored the game’s first touchdown to help Dakota State University earn a 43-16 NAIA win over Presentation in Madison, South Dakota.
The sophomore running back found the end zone on a 28-yard scoring run and finished the day with 33 yards on five carries.
This was his third career touchdown, with two of them coming against Presentation.
The first time, though, came when Furlong blocked a punt and recovered the ball in the end zone for his first career score.
Furlong, of Soldotna High fame, has racked up 106 yards on 25 carries this season. The 33 yards represented a season high and the No. 2 total on his career list.
Last season, he ran for a career-best 75 yards and scored on a 1-yard plunge in the season finale against Dickinson State.
