Joyner scores season’s first TD as Elizabeth City gets first win
Brandon Joyner of Fairbanks kickstarted a 20-point first quarter breakout that carried the Elizabeth City State University football team to its first victory of the NCAA D2 season.
The junior wide receiver hauled in an 11-yard TD grab for the game’s first score to help Elizabeth City beat Saint Augustine’s 27-17 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Joyner, of West Valley High fame, finished with five receptions and 41 yards.
The 6-foot-4 wideout has caught 18 passes for 161 yards and one TD in five games this season.
Joyner has posted 24-309-2 totals in 11 career games at Elizabeth City.
