VanOrd’s first goal for Western Oregon proves to be game winner
Anchorage’s Danielle VanOrd led the Western Oregon University women’s soccer team to a historic victory.
The junior forward bagged her first goal of the season to provide a 1-0 win over Concordia, snapping the team’s four-game winless streak at Tuominen Yard in Portland, Oregon.
VanOrd, of Bartlett High fame, buried a shot in the top left corner in the 37th minute to beat the keeper and secure her first game-winning goal in a Wolves uniform.
“Dani had a clutch finish and the team continues to show their growth with each game,” WOU coach Kacey Bingham said.
It was her first point since Oct. 5 and gave her 1-3-5 scoring totals in 16 games.
